I am writing a story and I need something that will protect my vampire from the sunlight.  I don’t want my vampire to be protected by a ring or vervain like in The vampire diaries. I want something else.. Please help?

I’m confused by this, so I’d appreciate it if anyone can explain it to me.

After Damon gave Kat the vervain to stop Klaus’s compulsions, why wasn’t she able to leave the room? It’s only after he told her she could leave that she zip out of there quicker than he could speak. Will anyone explain this?

In the vampire diaries stefan gives elena vervain which keeps her from being compelled (mind control) and stefan himself puts it on her. However, when damon tries to compel elena and says kiss me she doesn’t kiss him because she is wearing the vervain necklace and he sees that. Why didn’t he just take it off of her and then compel her since we have seen that vampires can touch the necklace. Or like when elena and bonnie were kidnapped by ben and anna and ben tried to compel elena, why didn’t he just take the necklace off of her and then compel her?

What could be a natural herb to poison a vampire? My reason being is that I’m writing a short fiction about a vampire slayer, and I can’t think of a natural herb used in food that might otherwise kill or weaken a vampire. Garlic has been overdone and vervain’s been used in vampire diaries. wolfsbane is out of the deal too because its poisonous to humans and not a natural herb used in food. Any help? Thanks!
