Question:
I am glad that the CW is showing a full week marathon of The Vampire Diaries all this week. However I have a question about the watch that belongs to the Gilbert’s. I don’t understand how the watch comes into play and what does and is the significance of it? What does it have do with Stefan and Damon and them being vampires?

It’s a vampire compass. It shows you where the nearest vampire is.
The watch is from the first time the town was overrun by vampires. Using the watch, the person holding it can tell if the person it’s pointing at is a vampire. That’s its significance in the show.
