Its not that people get mad because you believe in vampires, it that the SAME questions get asked over and OVER with the same answers and these kids just don’t get.
It would be like if people kept asking if 2+2=10. Well it doesn’t…it cant, it never has and never will =10….yet people keep asking the question because they WANT it to =10. And even after it is explained point by point why the answer cant be what they want, they still sit there with a dumbfounded look on their face and repeat the question.

As I’ve stated before I think that the myth of the vampire was used to explain people with unexplainable medical conditions. Anything other than that I really have no opinion on, though I do think that if the Hollywood style vampire did exist we would know about by now.

    Hope this helps,

It was never a big deal until Twilight. Vampires are myths. just like Big Foot and so forth.

I dunno why fired up, but people don’t believe in vampires because there’s no real proof that they exist, nor is there a large group of people who believe they do. I mean, there might bee among teenagers in the US and transylvanians, but beyond that, everyone’s pretty sure that there are no vampires, and no one has been proven wrong yet.

Just because someone isn’t gullible doesn’t make them close-minded. There is only one reality and vampires, werewolves, demons, and goblins aren’t in it.

  • I guess I'm a Fairy says:

I’m not close minded. I believe in aliens, ghosts, psychic powers, etc…. I simply don’t believe in vampires because they do not exist. There is no such thing as the undead. It just isn’t possible. There are explanations for these other things but not for the walking dead.

  • Seeker says:

When faced with the rampant stupidity necessary to believe in vampires the only possible response is ridicule and/or abuse. Reason simply bounces off their "shield of stupidity".

Open-mindedness is all fine & laudable, but at some point it crosses over into gullibility. That point is when you’re so "open-minded" that your brains fall out.

Believing that "vampires might/do exist" is on the gullible side of this divide.

Why do people (like me) get fired up over it? Because stupidity of this magnitude is dangerous. The lack of reasoning, discernment & critical thinking skills required for this kind of gullibility to exist (& indeed fester) leads to things like people strapping bombs to themselves & blowing themselves up in a cafe, or flying planes into buildings or allowing an old woman to be burned alive because "she caused my goat to get sick".

For example, I’ve seen several calls on Y!A over the last few weeks asking for people to join their "vampire hunting" groups. Mix the stupidity needed to believe in vampires in the first place, plus an armed group of people out at night & somebody is going to get hurt.
